LED stands for light-emitting diode and refers to a special type of light. LED lights were first introduced in 1962 and early versions only emitted a low-intensity red light. Nowadays though LED lights are used in a tonne of modern gadgets and they are available across the ultraviolet, infrared and visible wavelength with a much higher brightness.

As a tribute to awesomeness that is the LED light we’ve added a whole section to our site that’s dedicated entirely to LED gadgets and gizmos (this one!). You’ll find all sorts of fun and interesting devices here that do all sorts of cool stuff.

One great example is the Hypnocube – a small gadget that’s made up of 64 individual LED lights that together create an amazing miniture light show that’s both beautiful and soothing to watch.
